“My entire lifetime is just a moment to You. At best, each of us is but a breath.” – Psalm 39:5

In light of eternity, life is a breath. Unfortunately, most people live focused on life on Earth instead of eternity, leaving them with eternal guilt.

You don’t have to end your life that way!

Every one of us was born a sinner, separated from God. If God judged you according to His standard, the results wouldn’t be good for any of us.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23

So what’s the big deal if you’ve done some bad stuff? One sin (one single lie, even) has earned you eternity in hell, separated from God.

“For the wages of sin is death…” – Romans 6:23

For many people, the story ends there. They don’t think God is relevant for their lives and don’t want to hear anymore. But God offers forgiveness and free eternal life!

“…but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23

That doesn’t mean God just winks at your sin. Sin deserves death, so someone has to die. Instead of making you die for your sin, though, He died in your place!

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

The perfect God of the universe became a man, lived a sinless life, and died the death that you deserved! But how does that give you eternal life? By confessing that you’ve messed up (sinned) and that you need God.

“that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” – Romans 10:9

So, now it’s as simple as a prayer. The words in the prayer below are simply an example of what you can say. Make it your own, but most importantly, mean it from your heart.

“God, I’ve done a lot of things in my life that I shouldn’t have. I’m a sinner. I know I deserve to die because of my sin, but I know that you loved me enough that you died in my place and rose again. Thank you! I surrender my life to You. Help me to live the rest of my life completely for you. Amen.”

Giving your life to God is really simple. That doesn’t mean all your problems will go away or that things will always be easy, but you can know that you’re forgiven and going to heaven for eternity! Incredible!
